A year or two ago, I enrolled in the literary braille transcription course from the NFB. But I never sent in the lessons. I still have the books. Can I write to them and start the course officially with them or would I need to enroll again and get new books? Would I be prohibited from taking it, since I didn't start the first time? Also, I have a large box of the 11 by 11 paper. But it's for an embosser. If I take the holes off, can I use it, since it's the same size and thick like the transcription paper or do I need to pay $35 plus shipping for a whole new box of the latter. Any help would be appreciated, as I really do want to get started so that I can be certified.
I am curious what the purpose of a blind transcriptionist for Braille would be?
I thought the idea was transcribe by looking at print and convert to Braille?
A curiosity, not a criticism.
I thought it was strange as well. But they do offer the course book in braille. Perhaps, we can work translating audio books/files or things either originally in an electronic format or hard copies scanned into a computer. I also know that, many times, teachers will give out worksheets and the like, and while I can't speak for anyone else, I didn't get a scanner until I was in college so needed the braille before that, unless I had things read to me.
